| Haiti Earthquake Fundraising 2010 | |||
|
Please watch this space for more developments. As with the Tsunami four years ago, I am selling my steel pan CD's to raise money for the Haiti Earthquake appeal throughout the Spring and Summer of 2010, and have been invited to work with Great Walstead School in West Sussex as part of their own Haiti fundraising initiative. If you'd like to buy a CD, please send a cheque for £8 to 'J. Bernardin' to 24 Ferring Lane, Worthing, BN12 6QT. £5 of that amount will go to the Haiti appeal and I will publish the amount of money raised at the end of the summer. | 2008 Brighton Fringe Festival (with Rachel Heyward) | |
| The
2008 Brighton Fringe steel pan concert staged by top pannist Rachel Heyward
at the Old Preston Park church was a real thrill to be involved in. We put
together a small classical duet in addition to some solos from Rachel, one
from me and a couple of marimba pieces.
The photo shows me looking relaxed and happy…the real thing was not so relaxing. You could hear a pin drop and I'm sure the audience could hear my heart thumping too! A real experience!

| Hen Parties! | ||
|
Stretching my services to the full, I took on the role of 'Hen Night warm-up act', providing eight gorgeous ladies with a steel pan experience to remember, before their big night out with the bride-to-be. Tough job, I know, but someone has to do it. The session was great fun and the ladies surprised themselves with the sound they made. They were all ready to book themselves some gigs by the end of the afternoon! |

This was a company staff event aboard a riverboat on the Thames. Against a backdrop of the London eye, we sailed gently along with the Caribbean sound being complimented by dancers, a specialist football juggler and the wonderful ROMANY, one of the UK's leading 'magician and illusion' entertainers. Tony Charles of London continues to make top quality steel pans. On this occasion he made a set for one of my school customers in Kent, Furley Park Primary School. I love to watch Tony work, particularly as I always receive an impromptu history lesson about the old days of carnival and steel bands in Trinidad, of which he is an expert and authority! | Nursing Home Fete, Worthing 2008. | |

I enjoy entertaining people of all ages, from the youngest school children to our most senior citizens, all of whom have stories they're eager to tell. We can all learn a lesson from older people, particularly when it comes to knowing how to enjoy yourself!
